The 2010 ICF Canoe Slalom Junior World Championships takes place in Foix (France), on the Ariège River, from Thursday 7th to Sunday 11th. This top-level sport event is organized under the authority of the International Canoe Federation by an Organising Committee composed with the services of the city of Foix and the French Canoe Federation.
This event will gather together in the South-West of France the best young slalom specialists, about to become the next stars of future international competitions and Olympic Games.
300 athletes, representing 37 countries and coming from the 5 continents will compete in canoe single (C1) men and women, canoe double (C2) men, and kayak single men and women (K1). Most of these young paddlers are between 16 and 18 years old, and will have the chance to launch their elite career in Foix.
To organize this event, many efforts and investments have been made by the city of Foix, which set-up a new configuration of the sport venue and built new facilities to make of this water stadium one of the most beautiful natural spots in France to enjoy canoeing.
The opening ceremony took place on Wednesday 7th, at 18h30 in the Allée de Vilotte, in the city center. Individual qualifications will follow on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th. Saturday will be the day of 3-boat teams semi finals and finals. Individual semi-finals and finals will take place on Sunday.
